Coming out of college, where beer is not of the highest quality or associated with any sort of higher purpose other than getting wrecked, I was ready to move into a new relationship with beer. One summer I was lucky enough to work for a restaurant which prided itself on its craft beer selection , and led me to some knowledge which has helped me appreciate and enjoy beer more thoroughly.
The microbrew scene has exploded in the United States, and it seems to be hard to go anywhere without finding a place where you can find a craft brew (lord knows, I’m not complaining!) Basil Lee and Kevin Stafford have put up a guest-blog on Bespoke Post about the basics of how to taste beer. This article is a good place to start, but then I suggest you find a brewery or tap house which hosts a beer school, or tastings so you can put some of your newly acquired skills to work!
